옐로우스톤 가는 90번 Interstate를 타고 가다 중간에 빠져서 들른 미국 대통령 얼굴이 조각된 Mt. Rushmore. 지금껏 아빠는 이게 LA나 할리우드 쪽에 있는 건줄 알았다고 함. 엄마는 이게 큰바위얼굴이라던가....
조각상에 새겨진 대통령
조지 워싱턴(1대 대통령) - 미국 독립전쟁의 장군으로써 독립에 큰 기여를 한데에서 새겨졌다.
토마스 제퍼슨(3대 대통령) - 미국 독립선언문을 수필로 작성, 그 공으로 조각하게 되었다.
시어도어 루즈벨트(26대 대통령) - 파나마 운하 건설기획추진의 공로로 조각되었다.
에이브러햄 링컨(16대 대통령) - 노예 해방 선언의 일으로 조각되었다.
미주리주는 1821년에 24번째로 연방에 가입되었다네..
